We must decide which community leaders have earned a place on our city council. Our choices will profoundly impact the quality of our governance. Council members have the power to work for Wylie, or to bog us down with council infighting and leave us vulnerable to outside interest and exploitation. The need for leadership extends beyond our city limits. A voice that will be respected at the county, state and federal level is paramount. Without such political savvy our goals will become lost in the impact of larger politics. These positions require tenured candidates who have proven and vested interests in Wylie and a firm grasp on the processes necessary to move us forward. We do not have the luxury of electing well-intended individuals, no matter their concern or integrity, who will require extensive on the job training. Wylie's growth has been staggering. We have metamorphosed from a small town of 3,000 to an urban powerhouse of 35,000. Our voice is louder, but our concerns are more diverse.
As I review the professional background and civic achievements of our candidates, one stands out. Red Byboth, running for City Council Place 2, has Wylie planning and zoning commission experience, he is a member of Wylie Chamber's Executive Board and the Vice President of Development for our WISD Education Foundation and was recently named as one of the 21 leaders for the 21st century by the Inside Collin County Business newspaper. Red Byboth's involvement in our community is unsurpassed. His numerous awards and successful local business are further proof of his capabilities and commitment to Wylie. Red Byboth has experience working with County, State and Federal officials. Only Red can protect our interests in these larger arenas.

Mayor, City of Wylie
All WISD School Board Trustees have endorsed Red Byboth for City Council.
As a past business owner and residents of Wylie, we met a lot of the fine upstanding citizens of Wylie. We are writing and asking those that have not made up their mind on the upcoming election to consider Red Byboth for City Council Position 2.
While in business in Wylie, Red was the only candidate for both positions that supported the downtown merchants. Red is one of the most committed individuals that we have met while living throughout the United States over the last 37 years. In all endeavors that Red gets behind, he does so with 110% of his effort.
Red is willing to listen to all sides of an issue and then will support the side that is best for the overall betterment of Wylie and its citizens. Red is not committed to any particular special interest group and will not be influenced by them.
Red has and continues to support the Wylie Chamber of Commerce, WISD Educational Foundation, Christian Care Center, Boy and Girl Scouts, Wylie First Baptist Church and many other endeavors throughout Wylie and the surrounding area.
We again ask you to support and vote for our friend and adopted brother, Red Byboth, for City Council Position 2.

I got a call a couple of weeks ago from Red Byboth. He informed me he was running for city council and asked me for his support. I did so without reservation.
Not just because Red is my friend. In fact since that conversation I’ve found out Red has a lot of friends. Most of the people I’ve talked to about voting for Red have said they’re doing so because he’s their friend, or he was a friend of someone they respected and had recommended him as the best choice for city council.
I’ve known Red since he was a neighbor on mine in the early nineties. So my opinion of him isn’t based upon a handshake or one experience. And everything I know about Red tells me he would be the best city council person we can have.
Red has a successful business. I personally believe one of the best things about having a small business owner on the city council is they know all about personal responsibility. When there’s a hiccup in the process they can’t blame another department. They have to stand up and accept responsibility for the problem or they don’t stay in business long.
Red is a busy person. And we all know that if you want to get something done you need to give it to a busy person. Red defines this sentiment as well as anyone I know.
Red also has those two things that seem to have disappeared from our city council. He has vision. He can see the big picture. He knows the horizon is beyond his own fence and there’s more to the world than what is on his street. He knows we need to keep in mind that Wylie is competing with other communities for a future in the area. He has the vision to see not only Wylie, but Wylie in Texas. The other thing he has is the drive to get things done instead of just discussing it. The combination of vision and drive are what make a difference in people, and in communities.
Red has been more proactive in the community than most of the current city councilpersons. He’s been at the forefront in getting contributions for scholarships for the schools, he was involved in the playground project, and he’s been active in the business community working for Wylie.
I urge everyone to vote for Red Byboth this election. He offers vision and drive and a record of successes. If Wylie needs anything at this time in our history, it’s a vision and the drive to make it happen.

"I personally am supporting Red in his bid for city council because I believe him to be the most qualified candidate for that office. If I were to seek a new member of a board of directors for a multimillion dollar business I would certainly look for someone that has the background to handle the job. Wylie is a multimillion dollar operation with a great many employees, huge budgets, complex operations, unique problems and long range plans. It serves a client base of over 30,000 customers and its product is of such value as to attract new customers daily. I know that Red Byboth has the back ground to handle such a task. He has served on the Wylie Planning and Zoning Commission as did Councilman Hogue, Mayor Mondy and myself. In that respect he has gained a greater insight in the governmental operations of Wylie and a baptism of fire for a council seat."
Carter Porter Wylie City Council
There are 3 reasons why I strongly endorse Red Byboth for Wylie
City Council:
Leadership: Red has proven his successful leadership in the many community
activities he has initiated and supported. He is recognized by the Fire
Department, Wylie Chamber of Commerce, and Collin County as an outstanding
citizen (to name a few). Red has an extraordinary capacity to make things
happen, while others are still scratching their heads wondering what to do.
Service: Red has always been one of the first in line to help in big or
smalls tasks, whether it's coordinating shipments of needed supplies to
disaster areas, or flipping pancakes at community events. Just last month,
while I was picking up my daughter's Girl Scout troop's cookie order at
Red's warehouse, I saw the Boy Scouts coordinating their canned goods drive
out of his same warehouse. He and his family are always helping somewhere.
Vision: Wylie's future is on Red's radar. He sees the incredible
opportunities and challenges before us, and wants to keep the ship sailing
in the right direction. Red's priorities for Wylie are balanced on
improving the quality of life for all citizens through protecting property
values, attracting new development, growing our parks and recreational
facilities, and building strong relationships with the schools and other
community organizations. As a successful business man and member of the
Planning and Zoning Commission, Red has already proven his ability to plan
for and manage a rapidly growing enterprise.

Mr. Red has been a friend ever since my family moved to Wylie. He has been very supportive of my career, both in life, and in scouts. He has lent me tools, spent some of his own time helping me draft a letter for my Eagle Scout Project, and has been a mentor and a friend throughout. When I began a job hunt, I ended up asking Mr. Red if he needed any help, and now have the distinction of being Dallas Moving and Storage's Facilities Maintenance personnel. Mr. Red is a very understanding man, and has allowed me very flexible work hours, and has worked with me around my busy schedule. When my car was immobilized over the summer, he lent me one of his trucks, so I could get where I needed to go. He provided copious amounts of assistance to me on my Eagle project; helping me draft a letter requesting donations, providing monetary assistance, providing tools, and supporting me through it all. Red is genuinely concerned with the community, and is continually working to better it. Red has worked hard for me, and he will work even better for Wylie.
